At the beginning of the 20th century the islands were renowned for their smoked herring industry, which continued to the 1970s, when fish stocks began to decline. Le Fumoir D'Antan celebrates this history by maintaining a still-operational smokehouse that uses traditional methods to preserve the tasty fish, a process that takes several months.
