    109, William Street
    This Neoclassical style home was built around 1858 by Andew Cowan whose brother Peter lent his name to the town of Cowansville. Peter's own farmhouse, built in 1871, was located on 245, rue Albert but had to be demolished in 2004 due to severe structural damage.

    Moulin Grenier
    Located along the King's Road, the Moulin Grenier (Grenier Mill) belonged to Francois Grenier. Built in 1820, the mill is now an historic monument.

    300, Main Street
    This home, which is a site on the Cowansville heritage tour, was built by the son of one of the town's first settlers, Jacob Ruiter. The mid-19th century structure is now home to La Fine Gueule restaurant.

    Visitors can learn how soap is made at this factory and interpretation centre. A range of natural soaps and cosmetics are handmade onsite and guests can purchase some of these products at the gift shop.

    Battle of the Chateauguay National Historic Site
    Battle of the Chateauguay National Historic Site is a museum that celebrates a battle during the War of 1812. Visitors will find both original artifacts as well as reproductions of military objects. The museum also houses a private collection of lead soldiers.

    Court House
    Constructed in 1860, this was one of the only court houses in Quebec to be built from bricks. The neoclassical style building, which is now part of the town's historical tour, originally housed 20 staff members including lawyers, bailiffs and notaries.

    Ancestral Interpretation Centre
    Once a small colony, today this site is used as an interpretive centre to education visitors on the lives of its ancestors. The centre includes refurbished historic buildings decorated with antiques and costumed extras explaining the colony's history. Tours are available and there is a gift shop onsite selling souvenirs, antiques and local art work.

    Moulin Saint-Louis
    Built in 1758, the Moulin Saint-Louis (Saint Louis Mill) continues to operate today. From May to September, visitors can take a free tour and see how flour is made. There is also a restaurant on site and reservations must be made in advance.

    Maison Louis-Bertrand
    Home of the Bertrand family since the 19th century, the current Maison Louis-Bertrand dates back to 1853 when the home was rebuilt after a fire. Visitors can explore the home, which contains original furnishings and artifacts from that time, and learn a bit about the life of Louis-Bertrand, who was prominent member of society.

    Le Fumoir D'Antan - Historic Herring Smokehouse

    At the beginning of the 20th century the islands were renowned for their smoked herring industry, which continued to the 1970s, when fish stocks began to decline. Le Fumoir D'Antan celebrates this history by maintaining a still-operational smokehouse that uses traditional methods to preserve the tasty fish, a process that takes several months. A small museum displays antique tools and industry objects.

    C.A.M.I Historical Heritage Complex

    Located in Old Harry, the Historical Heritage Complex consists of a tiny, turn-of-the-century school known as the Little Red Schoolhouse, built in 1921. Inside are photographs and displays depicting the school's 50-year career housing the island's students. The island's veterans also recieve a salute with the Veteran's Museum and nearby Memorial Park.

    Grosse Île Immigration and Disinfection Station
    Grosse Île was once the equivalent of Ellis Island in New York, opening in 1832 as an immigration station that greeted numerous British and Irish settlers escaping the Potato Famine in Europe. Once landing, new residents were forced to disinfect themselves and their clothes in an attempt to stave the spread of cholera and typhoid fever. Those who were found to be ill were forced to stay in quarantine away from their family and others until no longer contagious.

    Cradle of Kamouraska

    This site was the first settlement along the south St.Lawrence until an earthquake in 1790 forced inhabitants to move to the present Kamouraska town site. There is still a chapel here, as well as information panels that educate visitors on the history of the site. The original settlement also featured a second church and a cemetery.

    Hitchcock House
    Built by a local tinsmith in 1888, the Hitchcook House is named for the family who owned it in the 1950s and 1960s. Other residents included a doctor and a historian. The brick building that is currently used as a garage was once a horse stable.

    Copper Interpretation Centre of Murdochville
    The town of Murdochville was established and grew to support the nearby copper mine and visitors to this interpretation centre will learn about the history and operations of the mine and how it related to the growth of the town. Guests can dress up like a miner and explore the underground gallery, see the interactive exhibit room and visit the gift shop. The centre is open daily from the beginning of June to the end of September and reservations are required for groups.

    Doucet House
    Built in the mid to late-18th century by Acadian Charles Doucet, the house is a good example of rural architecture of the period. Situated on the King's Road, the building is private so visitors may only view it from the outside.
