    Congregationalists Church
    The church on this site replaced an earlier church that was built in 1852 but destroyed by fire. The current structure was completed in 1890 and is a stop on the Cowansville heritage tour.

    Church of Saint-Andre
    Built in 1811, this church which has been named an historic monument is the oldest in the Bas-Saint-Laurent region. Outside the building a footpath leads to the Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes grotto which is located next to a waterfall.

    Christ Church
    One of the sites on the Cowansville historical tour, this church was erected in 1893 after the original church on the site, which was constructed in 1855, burned down. Built in a Gothic Revival style, the church serves members of the Church of England.

    Church of Notre-dame-du-Rosaire in Fatima
    Built in 1967, the Church of Notre-dame-du-Rosaire in Fatima was desgined by architect Jean-Claude Leclerc, with plenty of input from the reverend at the time, Maurice Roy.

    Church of Notre-Dame-des-Neiges
    Built in the neo-gothic style, construction began on the current structure in 1885 and was completed in 1888. The church, which is the parishes fifth, will occasionally host concerts and exhibitions, and guided tours are available.

    Church of Sacre-Coeur at Grande-Entrée
    This tough old church was built in 1886 out of wood thrown overboard from a passing schooner in trouble. It is beloved by its congregation and serves as a welcoming community building.

    Eglise de la Purification-de-la-Bienheureuse-Vierge-Marie
    Originally a wood structure built in 1702, the church was rebuilt in stone between 1723 and 1728. Additions and enlargements were made to the building in 1850 and 1907. It was classified an historic monument in 1976.

    Eglise Saint-Georges
    The present Eglise Saint-Georges was completed in 1902 and was built to replace a smaller stone church originally constructed on the site in 1862. Considered by many to be one of the most beautiful churches in Quebec, it is built in a neo-classical style and the interior is filled with sculptures, gilt surfaces and pieces by Italian painter Vincenzo Pasqualoni.

    A parish was formed in this area in 1828 and the Eglise de Saint-Barthelemy (Saint-Barthelemy Church) followed in 1866. Distinguished by its two bell towers, the church is located along the King's Road.

    While the current church was built in 1879, the parish can be traced back over 300 years to 1664. The church houses numerous works of art including some that are centuries old. It is open in the summer from Tuesday to Sunday, admission is free and guided tours are available.

    Church of Saint Pierre at Lavernière
    The Church of Saint Pierre is the second-largest wooden church in North America. First built in 1876, lightening has threatened the church on several occasions, but it remains standing today. It is an island landmark and a personal favourite of locals.

    Eglise de Saint-Joseph
    The first Eglise Saint-Joseph (Saint Joseph Church) was constructed in 1744 but was threatened by erosion from the St. Lawrence River and so was replaced by a second version in 1864. This structure was gutted by fire as was its successor, built in 1917. The current church was constructed in 1935.

    St. Alphonse Church
    L'Eglise St-Alphonse (St. Alphonse Church) was built in 1907 in a neo-Roman architectural style. Located in downtown Thetford Mines, the church features a 10 m (32 ft) high alter and a number of religious artefacts. Open from June 24 to September 25, the church will accommodate groups by reservation year-round.

    Church of St-Peter's-by-the-sea at Old Harry
    A favourite among locals, the Church of St-Peter's-by-the-sea at Old Harry was built in 1916 using wood from one of the many unfortunate schooners that wrecked on the treacherous shoals around the island. Its door is dedicated to a resident of Old Harry who lost his life in the unpredictable waters of the Bassin Est Beach.

    Ste-Therese-de-l'Enfant-Jesus Church
    Built in 1951, the current Ste-Therese-de-l'Enfant-Jesus Catholic Church replaces a predecessor that opened for Midnight Mass on December 25, 1927 and burned down less than 20 years later. The style of architecture used to design the structure is considered to be from the Dom Bellot Modern French School.

    Church of Saint-François-Xavier
    The oldest church of the islands, the Church of Saint-François-Xavier was built in 1875 and is recognised most for its two distinctive, square towers. Damaged by lightning in 1936, the church was quickly rebuilt with only a few changes made to its original architecture.
